I had fun at my first Virtual Story Time with TCP.

Kids drew pictures and shared them from home.

Me…I sat on the floor of her studio and watched…

…I did not bark.

I did not beg for cookies.

I did not get into her trash.*

…Zoom-Zoom.

*Disclaimer: I did find part of a bagel in someone else’s trash on the way to her studio. It was delicious!

She said I was a good boy.

A School Visit in PA…A Children’s Book Editor Works in a Slice of Cheese in NYC…?

I spent a great week visiting schools in State College, PA.

Radio Park Elementary is full of students and teachers that are excited about reading, writing and drawing. A great school. A fun school visit.

One of the best parts of visiting schools is getting artwork and letters from kids!…
I was barely home in Vermont…when letters started arriving…I spent this morning answering them.

One of my favorite comments came from a child that likes that “my editor works in a building that looks like a slice of cheese.” I showed students a picture of the Flatiron Building so they could see where I go when I say “I’m go to see my publisher”.

Thank you to Mary Robert and her second graders for all your thoughtful letters…Here is a small sample…I’m off to the post office to mail all of the replies!

Elephant and Gracie helped me sign books in my hotel the night before my visit…

The day of my visit..I was greeted by this poster of MYRTLE in the library. It was drawn by a parent (and artist)…I love how she picked up on the patterns!

I had fun presenting and drawing with the students…I left drawings for the school…they were stuck all over the walls!

Elephant and Gracie back in VT…all “TUCKED-IN!”

Elephant and Gracie have been busy traveling…

They’re back in Vermont and all tucked-in…getting ready to launch Tracey’s newest book…

Elephant has a great school visit at Chamberlin School…

….I wasn’t the only author in the room!

Here’s ELEPHANT’S STORY made by the young authors and illustrators in Mrs. Meehan’s First Grade. It’s wonderful.

Here is a story quilt by Mrs. Charbonneau’s Kindergarteners….very cool.

Drawing Elephant Letters for the classrooms!

…There was even Elephant Cake…yum!

Mrs. Flickinger shares her library with a GIANT Bob…made a few years back…and still hanging out in the library…..a rooster that’s bigger than an Elephant!

I thought I was cool because I found an Elephant scarf…But Cally Flickinger was wearing of the t-shirts I designed for Shelburne Farms….very cool.

Thanks to Cally, Traci and everyone at Champlain School for making author visits fun!…I had a wonderful day with the kindergarten and first grade classes at Chamberlin School in Vermont….tcp
